Being a teacher in a high school classroom is tough enough. Being a stylish teacher?

I'm trying.

Where I've been...

Seattle...

Boston...

To the beach...

And of course,

With my students...

Am I ready to dive back into blog land?

I think yes...

It has been an amazing first semester...and an emotional one.

How about yours?

Floral peplum

All right y'all.
I have avoided the peplum craze (which may in fact be over, I am often late to the fashion party) for fear that i would look too "hippy" and because it requires pretty slim fitting pants to balance it out. well, i fell in with this floral print at Century 21 and bought it even though they didn't have my size! (i sized up!) Florals are still in, right? Right?
Anyway, I wore this with my navy slim fit cropped pants and loved it! I was comfy all day and still felt feminine.
I am wearing the top again with my indigo jeans as we speak...I think this may be a dangerous.

No, you may not borrow it!

Another sleeveless shirt!

It's Friday of the third week of my five week grad school intensive and I am finally starting to get in my groove.

This course has been unlike any other academic experience, in many unexpected ways.

I am not used to not being great at the assignments places in front of me and there has been a lot that has challenged my definition of myself and made crystal clear my insecurities.

I am growing. And that is good.

My outfit today is a simple one-I fell in love with this olive top and when I got it home I realizes I could wear it with anything in my closet! Who knew Olive was so versatile!

In pixie news, today I blew it out with a round brush like it was a bob, then tucked it behind my ears.

Make it work people!
How long until I have an actual bob?

The sleeveless shirt.

One thing I have gotten tons of use of this summer?  My sleeveless blouses!  I am generally not one for a sleeveless shirt, except as a layering piece under sweaters and cardigans...but this summer, with the business casual requirement at school and the 97+ degree temps, I have come around.

This was an outfit during the heat wave--I considered belting that skirt, but was just too damn hot to add any accessories.  Notice: No earrings, necklaces, or bracelets.  Apparently, everyone is lucky I agreed to wear clothes at all.

My point is, I have made this top work with every bottom in my closet, and it works hard every time.  The only problem?  It's a little sheer, and it's from Old Navy, so it is starting to get a little worn (pun intended?)

My next mission is to find this shirt in a slightly thicker, sturdier material for the school year!

In growing out the pixie news, I have moved to a Fauxhawk hairstyle to deal with the longer layers on top and on the sides...Tuck long side hair behind ears.  Tease bangs and pin back.  Hair spray to high hell.  Done.

Not feeling it...

It was 99 billion degrees the day I wore this outfit...

One thing of note:
The pixie is growing out.

How many of you out there are growing out a pixie?

This weekend, I seriously considered chopping it all off again.

Right now, it is at the inbetween phase.
Not a pixie.  Not a bob.

It's shaped like a bob, but hitting right at my ears in the front.  I keep getting the back trimmed.

The trick is to blow it dry and then, tuck it behind your ears.  Then, it looks like a stacked bob in the front.

I forgot to tuck prior to this picture.

Anyway, the pink is almost gone and my pixie is a pixie no longer.

I have no identity!

Scarf? Yay or Nay? Yes, I purposely misspelled "yea."

Another outfit from my week of pretending to...errrr...dressing like a professional.
I picked up this Lauren by Ralph Lauren navy dress for FIFTEEN dollars at Belk in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Ohmagosh...
Anyway, I love the dress AND I think it will be a great fall to winter dress with tights and boots, especially given the long short sleeves!
Why did I wear the scarf with this? It was 85 that day...outside. Inside, it was -48.
Damn you air conditioners!
