Being a teacher in a high school classroom is tough enough. Being a stylish teacher?

I'm trying.

Raise the alarm...

I originally shot this outfit outside in front of a classy brick building-with the help of some fellow teachers! (wearandpaperback!)
Then, I realized I forgot to put the SD card in the camera.  Shiz.
So, my friend and the dance teacher at my school Michelle shot me in the hallway:

Next to the fire alarm...'cause my jacket is that hot.

By the way, I am wearing sunglasses inside...that is for the benefit of the blog-so you could get the "whole effect" of the outfit.  If you were thinking of making fun of me for it, don't worry, my students already did.

 I was ashamed.

Michelle wanted me to make sure you teacher fashionistas know she is a dance teacher (she went to Juilliard!) and that is why she appears dressed down.  She is isn't . She is dressed appropriately for her job.
I am dressed down.  Jeans are totally acceptable if you wear a fake leather jacket with them, right?

Teacher time

Have you taken yours yet?
Your teacher time?

The time you need to rest and reflect that, though it makes you feel guilty, will make you a more powerful, patient, and effective teacher?

So many teachers work through our breaks. I know. I am one of them. This is the first break I have actually taken off in two years! That includes the summer!

And now I am realizing that some of struggles and frustrations I was dealing with we're not a result of my situation, but a result of my lack of real rest, undisturbed by thoughts of lessons, students, or administration.

I am realizing the value of teacher time.

Vacay style

Hey peeps!
Greetings from Miami Beach, where I have, at this late age in life, discovered the versatility of a chambray shirt.

It works as a beach cover up AND it dresses up cut off jean shorts? Yes please!

The beaches here are amazing, but I most admit I am missing Mr. Russell Sprout and Mr. Frederick, both of whom had prior commitments and were unable to get vacation time. The shih tzu's schedule, in particular, was pretty packed.

Luckily,my fellow teacher and friend Rebecca was able to come with me and we are having a blast.

Back in Black (and Navy).

So-there has been a serious lack of outfit posting going on here.

Why?

Well, I haven't been that inspired...you see, it's still 30 degrees here in Brooklyn.  I am desperate for sunshine.

So desperate that on Sunday (29 degrees but sunny), I insisted on taking a long walk to the park with J and Frederick the Shih Tzu.  Twenty minutes into it, little Fred was shivering.  I was hell bent on outdoors time.

Anyway, here is a summary of my outfits for the last two weeks.  Jeans, tights, sweaters.  Scene.

Now, it may be thirty degrees out today, but I am trying.

Now, don't worry.  The Spring will be here soon. I have faith.

And if it isn't here soon, it doesn 't matter, 'cause I am bouncin' to Miami come next Wednesday.

Holla to Spring break!

badass.

This outfit is my, it's-Friday-I'm-wearing-all-black-and-I'll-add-red-spiky-shoes-so-noone-notices outfit.
You have one, too, right?
This outfit makes me feel much tougher than I am.  But then, I can't get through a photo shoot without looking like a goofball.  (note closed eyes and duck face in following photographs...)  I don't know if my goofball personal will ever come to terms with my desire to look like a bad ass.

Yes. My eyes are closed.  Deal with it.

And no shot is complete without some goofy blogger self portrait action!  Hey there wearandpaperback!
